Ypres Reservoir Cemetery

6th Cornwall Light Infantry arrived in France in May 1915 as part of 43 Brigade, 14th Division. They had suffered heavy casualties during the German liquid fire attack on Hooge at the end of July and on the 9th August, 1915 they moved back to the cellars in Ypres. On 12th August, 1915 there was an intense bombardment of St Martin’s Church within which many of 6th Cornwall Light Infantry were sheltering. Over 20 of their number were killed and an equal number wounded.
